Weather
on The Big Island of Hawaii
Anytime of year is
a good time to visit Hawaii’s Big Island. The Kona side of
the big island is sunnier and drier than other parts of the island,
while the Hilo side is wetter and more tropical. The average
temperature here is between 75˚-85˚ F. Summer, between April
and November, is warmer and drier while winter, between December and
March, is a bit cooler. Trade winds keep things comfortable
year-round.
Getting to Hawaii’s Big Island
There are two main
airports on Hawaii's
Big Island, Kona International (KOA) and Hilo (ITO). The direct
flights from the mainland arrive at Kona but most of the flights
arrive from Honolulu
(HNL).
